Te Manga the highest mountain in RarotongaOctober 22, 2016
i left home with a crazy idea! i was going to rappel into cathedral cove and thats exactly what i did.
after arriving at cathedral cove carpark in hahei coromandel i grabbed my gear and started walking, its about a 30min walk into the cove… easiest walk you will ever do to get to a beautiful place.
i spotted heaps of native edible plants witch i was munching back as i walked. i was totally amped about what was about to happen. As i approached the secret location to rappel, it started to rain. i couldn’t do what i wanted to do in the rain so i started running to get there quicker. lucky for me the rain stopped i set my anchor a 3 point set up for the best safety, so i didn’t fall like my phone that i dropped…
it was amazing as i inched my way towards the edge of the cliff i felt the wind blowing up towards my face i took the final step and jumped, there was a very short moment were i fell. My rope grabbed me in my belay device, everything pulled tight i could feel one of my anchors move a tiny bit as it found its resting position. i started to decend into the cove! i reached the halfway point and tied myself off and started taking photos.
i had to do the abseil about 5 times to get all the shots i wanted but the finished product was amazing!!
overview of my trip to the cove it was a pretty successful other than dropping my phone off the cliff i met some cool people who helped me take some of my shots overall i was very stoked to have done this into cathedral cove.
